Description

Alberto D'Andrea, The coins of Daunia, Castellalto (TE), D'Andrea Editions, 2008

This work is the sequel to "The coins of Tiati", the first book that involved the minting of the peoples of ancient Daunia. In the previous work, only one mint was examined, as attention was focused on the age-old question of coins bearing the wording TIATI (Teati Marrucinorum or Teati Apulum?); in this new volume the discourse of the dauni is concluded by examining the coins of Arpi, Ascoli Satriano, Canosa, Heridonia, Hyrium, Lucera and Salapia. It should also be noted that all the emissions of Canosa and Lucera have been analyzed and compared with the contemporary Roman emissions. In the work there are also several unpublished: mostly they are coins that have appeared for sale, in recent years, on the price lists of auction houses.
